Poem: Wanderers are Always Welcome

The snow lies thick
on the path up the hill
but the windows shine
like a beacon
and the light spills out
even the ice glistens
like a fantasy castle
from long ago.

It's a party
full of good cheer
laughter and happiness
a time for all to gather
some travel from far away
others absent for years
at the end of the day
you are always welcome

Cheeks tinged with pink
it's a bit cold outside
come inside where it's warm
have a cup of cocoa
put your feet up by the fire
you have journeyed far
tell me the story
of your adventures
