Poem: Before I Go to Sleep

Every evening
before I go to sleep
I think about
what has happened today.
Where I am going
where I have been.
Is it harder
to reflect as
the sun goes down
as opposed to
when the sun goes up?

The quiet of the night
is my best friend.
No distractions
no child wanting attention
no husband demanding
I listen to his lectures.
The silence of my mind
is the greatest comfort
and the greatest friend
I can ever hope for
before I go to sleep.
