Poem: A Mother's Timeless Strength

-

There is no reprieve 
in the trials of motherhood 
it is a life sentence 
one that can be 
voluntarily taken 
or one that can be 
dictated by fate 
either way it is a journey 
a test of the spirit
not an easy path
nor a straight one
so many crossroads
so many sleepless nights
life will never be the same
it will leave its mark
upon your heart and soul
whether or not
you acknowledge it so.

An egg for breakfast  with shell so fragile  yet that is a blank canvas  for all hues of color a pinhole in the top the yolk for a tasty omelette from wax relief  stark white lines scratched in the surface for those Easter hunts where the bunny hides surprises for the children. to the priceless pieces  favored by emperors tiny jewels attached with the greatest of care a masterpiece of delicacy unmatched by modern means.
