Poem: Recharge in Noisy Silence

Soft rain
dense fog
howling wind

fire crackles in hearth
a cheery glow
bulwark against the cold

wrapped in blankets
cat on lap
a mug of spiced rum

A comfortable peace
even as bad weather
thunders outside.

This is the kind
of being alone
that recharges the soul.
